We build trips around his houses and gardens, from Lunuganga on the lake to Number 11 in Colombo and his Kandalama hotel in the jungle, and around the house and garden of his brother Bevis at Brief. At Sigiriya, the fifth-century frescoes on the rock face are some of the oldest paintings in South Asia. Galle Fort has the old Dutch streets and the galleries in them. The train from Kandy to Ella runs through the tea country, and the coast is for the end: south and west from December to April, east from May to September.
