BRAZIL

Inhotim, in Minas Gerais, is contemporary art set across a botanical garden, with pavilions for Adriana Varejão, Cildo Meireles and Doug Aitken spread over hills you could spend three days in. In São Paulo, Lina Bo Bardi’s MASP hangs its collection on glass easels, and her SESC Pompeia is still the city’s living room. In Rio, Niemeyer’s curves and Burle Marx’s own garden at the Sítio. The São Paulo Bienal is one of the oldest in the world. For the end of the trip, Trancoso or Paraty, with the beach and very little else.
