Cenotes, Mayan sites and a long stretch of quiet coast. Fly into Mérida rather than Cancún and drive from there. Uxmal at opening time, with its carved Puuc facades, is one of the great sights of the Americas. Mérida has a growing contemporary scene, from MACAY on the main square to artists’ studios in restored colonial houses. We base people in henequen haciendas, with long lunches and swims in private cenotes.
