Shigeru Ban’s art museum and villas on the Seto Inland Sea in Otake, Hiroshima, opened in 2023. The collection centres on French Art Nouveau glass, shown in rooms that open onto water and garden. Ban’s architecture is reason enough to come: timber, light and the sea in every view. Each villa is designed differently and looks out over the water. It’s a short hop from Hiroshima and Miyajima, and a natural first or last stop on a Setouchi art journey.
