Oslo has rebuilt itself around art: the new National Museum, the Munch museum on the water, and Kistefos an hour north, where BIG’s gallery The Twist spans a river through a sculpture park. Then the fjords, slowly, by road or by boat. Along the National Tourist Routes, small pieces of architecture and art mark the viewpoints, and Juvet’s glass rooms sit right over a river gorge. Lofoten has the midnight sun in summer and the northern lights from September to March. Its fishing villages have drawn painters for over a century.
